It takes guts to be creative. In other words, to be yourself.

October 12, 2006

Since creativity can be so personal and subjective it’s easy to over think our ideas or try to emulate others which have a proven track record. We water down our own original thoughts in an effort to make them sound or look more like those that are already widely accepted. Sometimes to protect ourselves from criticism or sometimes to convince ourselves we’re doing something right because it looks like something we’ve seen. Of course, if it has been seen it won’t be ground breaking.

It’s important to be aware of what has been done and why it was successful or why it failed, but be wary of the, “How they made it big.” books and stories. These books and stories of huge successes can be interesting but won’t necessarily get you from A to Z. Every day we see these stories but rarely see all of the work, tough decisions, timing, sleepless nights and even luck. If you get anything from the success stories it should be inspiration to follow your gut.

Individualism comes from the inside

October 2, 2006

From day one we’re told that individualism comes from the brand choices we make at the register. There’s a blurry line between what we buy and who we are. Individualism comes from deep within, through a combination of beliefs and actions, not necessarily choices. It’s the feeling we get from the song we’re listening to, not from choosing or owning the device that’s playing it. It’s the feeling we get when we know we’ve made a choice in the best interest of our health and soul or the world around us and not what our physical image means to others. Most importantly it’s how we express everything that we are through our ideas, words and actions.

When we become who we are through choices that have nothing to do with consuming goods, it’s the true individual in us that will shine through more than anything else. So be careful of what you see in the magazines or on the television screens, it’s who you are already that will be most interesting of all to the rest of the world.

Become an expert in your thoughts and beliefs and make them a reality

So, you’re smarter than your boss.

Now what?

A Private Revolution thought.

September 26, 2006

See the world for yourself. Define every aspect of it. What does the smallest detail mean to you? Form opinions, change your mind, share your thoughts and never forget to write them down.

You must find direction, time and mental strength.

September 23, 2006

To reach your goals you must find the mental and physical ability to lay the stones in front of you as you walk. If knowledge stands in your way, buy a book on the subject to sidestep the block. If time stands in your way, find another hour in the day. Create a time budget, decide what you can cut. Your life is full but you must incorporate the needs of your goals into it. Most importantly, you must build mental strength by believing in yourself and your ideas the whole way through, especially on the low road.

Private Revolution is about getting started.

September 22, 2006

It is about the organization of thoughts, resources and actions it takes to put your ideas into motion.

It is about your mental contributions for a better world and most importantly a more thoughtful world. Sometimes the sheer size of a cause or project we would like to take on can hinder our ability to start. Start small, a note on a piece of scrap paper. Pin it up on the wall and stare at it every time you pass. Elaborate to an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Grow it from a seed. Plant it somewhere. Start dropping seeds everywhere. Have your private revolution.

A sweet spot in the middle.

It is important to have heroes but not nearly as important as it is to raise ourselves to their level or above and strive to become the hero, no matter who we are. Impressing the world or maybe just one person close to us with a consistent positive thought or action. First though, we must rise above or bring ourselves down from where we have placed ourselves.

Private Revolution is you. It is individual choice.

September 19, 2006

Private Revolution – The time has come.
In our ever continuing quest to gather the latest, fastest, most fashionable tools to express our true selves, we forgot how to express our true selves. In a world of limited choice Private Revolution gives the individual his or her intellect back through individual, original choice. Allowing the individual to do their own thinking and communicate human emotion in their own way, which is the only way.

Private Revolution is you. It is individual choice.
It is not like being anyone else, in your head only you know who you are. You are too smart to live an imperfect life guided by the senseless mass-marketed messages of who you are or ought to be and what you should wear. Only you know who you are so shut the door on presumption and open it to your reality.

The time is now to fly your flag.
Make your choice, write your words, become who you are. Listen only to yourself for now. Believe that you can make a difference if you want to. Prove that you are smarter than the mass-marketed message.

Help your friends, forget your enemies.
See everything for what it really is and spread the word. Don’t let anyone tell you how to think and never let them tell you your thoughts are worthless. Forget how it’s supposed to be and make the world listen to you. It’s a lot of work and you’ll really have to believe in yourself, but it will be worth it.

Fight tooth and nail, until somebody listens.
And they will listen because it will be something new, something fresh. Something we’ve never seen before. Something we desperately need. Make your individual choice now and share your vision with the world or just a friend for now.

Start a Private Revolution.

My biggest fear.
