When you write a thought down to be read at some time in the future it is imperitive to include the context in which it was created. Why did you think of the idea? Was it something you heard on the radio? Who said it? Did you read something in the paper that made you think of it?
It could be a general statement or funny line that needs no explanation, but a lot of ideas require a context so you can add to that thought later. You must put yourself back in that original frame of mind. Sometimes when you return to an idea 3 or 4 weeks later to read it, it makes no sense at all. You might recall what point you wanted to make but if you don’t it is lost forever. Losing an idea is worse than losing your wallet or purse because they are potentially worth so much more and you have to believe that about your ideas. They are one of the most valuable things you possess.
